Cool idea...

I've seen it done where they stenciled in a "rug", and it was lovely.

Very interesting idea. It looks nice, just have to be hyper aware of durability issues.

Have never tried my hand at stencilling, but I have painted a wood floor before (where it had been patched and couldn't really be refinished) and I loved it! Was suggested to me by an expert in dealing with historic homes. I've seen stencilled rugs that I loved, but the overall pattern is very inviting too, especially with sunny colors like this.

Sure, why not? Seems fun and interesting. A very personal touch can be added to your space and even if it wears a bit, I think that could add to it's beauty. :) You can also purchase sheets and cut your own stencil, using a fabric you like or one used in the space for a guide/idea. ;)

Fun idea, but not for me. I can appreciate the look though.

Wood has so much character. If I were aching for something with patterns, like in the pic above, I would find a similar area rug to layer on top of a rich, warm colored wood floor. Nothing beats the color of natural wood.

I don't think my stenciling would look that nice. I'm impressed with this person's work. So I voted no.

I do like this sample. But I've always thought the diagonal checkerboards just look weird.

I think it depends on the condition of the floor and the style of the house. In my home, it would look extremely awkward! In addition to that, I would fear my stencils wouldn't line up as well as the work done in the photo! Beautiful floor!

I've had painted floors for more than 20 years. They are easy to maintain and inexpensive to redo. Preparing to update the entry with a new color palette and a new pattern.

It's cute, but I'd never do it to mine. 100 yo oak & pine. I'll keep it as is! :0)

I think it depends on the condition of the wood floor at 100%. If you have a good condition & quality floor (you have payed for that already), why you would paint or stencil on it? If you want to make some changes, better install a plain hardwood and paint THAT surface. If your wooden floor don't deserve so much care and attention because it quality and condition, I think this is a creative solution. But if you have an oak or antique pine floor, you should keep it for the future.

I would paint and stencil a concrete floor, but not a wood one.

My floors are perfect for it. It's my dream to do,but a huge undertaking.

Definitely depends on the condition but I'd rather see this in a bohemian or cottage-type space

I sure can appreciate the beauty of a nice stenciled or painted floor but personally I prefer the wood to be stained.

I have American Cherry floors and plan to Stencil some rugs in the kitchen because, I hate rugs in the kitchen.
