As much as I love tile, in your case I might just do a stainless piece behind the range to the hood. I love your windows and I wouldn't want to take away from them and the wall makes it hard to find a natural stopping point. For counter, I would consider a taupe or grey quartz if you don't want to continue the white.

I think I would do the width of the hood. If you browse photos you'll see that the stainless often extends even past the hood to the windows and up to the ceiling, but I think with your high ceiling and not wanting to take away from the nice windows, you would be ok just going up to the hood. I think it will be ok wider than the stove - actually probably a little better that way in terms of a little extra protection from splatters.

If you are looking for more impact with the back splash you could do something like the picture I mocked up below.

It would look great if you would tile the entire wall. I would suggest natural stone, such as travertine. I think a beige toned stone would look great!!!

yes, yes, yes, but very expensive. You might want to look into exterior stone facades for such a large area. Maybe a slate veneer. You want to warm up this space and still maintain it's neutrality. Then you can add a pop of color with the chairs.

p.s. white quartz like princess white is problematic. Everything stains it and you can not use most household cleaners on it. It is not like granite or even marble. With a white/gray marble it is easier to accept that it will age with grace. Treated soapstone would even be a nice option to contrast the counter tops.

Rschmitty is that true? I was told that Quartz are non porous compared to granite and marble and will not stain.

A small scale stainless brick tile would look awesome behind your stove and it should start from the width of the hood all the way down past the stove to counter height. That way if you ever need a new stove the look will remain like a stainless fireplace accent on that wall. The vertical visual of all stainless between the windows will be a feature to whole wall, but keep it clean and modern.

The entire width of the counter and to the bottom of the window stool. If the counter ends with a bull-nose on the right hand side, then the tile must end at the point where the counter starts to curve.
