So I recently decided to remove my dinette set and add an island to my kitchen. To save money, I'm making it myself with base cabinets and a used island counter top. (My way of having a "custom" island!) But now I need to refinish everything. I'm worried about not properly matching my current cabinets so I was considering doing something different. What should I do with the island counter top? What about the cabinets? Should I paint or stain? I'm also in the process of redoing my living room. I'll add photos. (Excuse the sofa in my kitchen, it's moving out soon)
