I bought another set of lamps yesterday. What does everyone think?

My first thought was, I love them. Then, I wondered if they might feel a bit modern for the room. The size looks nice.

Then, as I was about to post a comment, my husband came in and I shut my computer down for a bit to chat with him. When I turned it back on and came back into Houzz, this pic was on the Houzz entry screen and I found myself thinking, that lamp would be beautiful in mom3boyz's bedroom. I think you've found several pretty good options but I do continue to think ceramic might be the best of all and I've been liking the idea of white ceramic recently. But, again, I think a few of the recent options have been pretty good.

I also like the idea of ceramic but have not found anything suitable. These last lamps are my favourite of the latest three. The picture above is so nice and calming.

That bedroom pic is nice, isn't it? It made me think of your room. I do think you could get a similar feel to your room with your wall, bedding and headboard colors. Your furniture is dark but with lamps and drapes similar to that pic, you could definitely create a similar feel. That was kind of your initial idea for drapes, right? They might look great.

Looking again at the pic of your room, if you put a fuller duvet in your cover, made the shams you have planned, then added kind of sheer white drapes, white lamps with bright white shades, and white accent pillows on the bed (maybe with some texture), you really could get that kind of look and it would be beautiful in your space.

Now I'm pretty excited thinking about it. Looking back at the pics of the rest of your room and bathroom and the art on your walls, adding white to the bed side of the room would be just perfect. The only thing that wouldn't go with that theme would be the lamp on the dresser but maybe it could find a new home? Maybe you don't need accent colors, etc. Maybe the best idea is a bunch of white.

I forgot to mention that I found curtains yesterday. Most people were suggesting beigie so that's what I went with. Didn't see any white sheers that I liked. Here is a pic of them just sort of placed by the window. It's getting dark so it's a bit difficult to see.

Consider adding some dramatic wallpaper! Accessories and artwork always goes a long way. You could definitely use more texture/pattern in the room! We've installed wallpaper on the master bedroom ceilings of our clients numerous times and it always adds pizzazz to the room!

I have thought about wallpaper on the wall behind the headboard. I'll keep an eye out for curtains with more texture. I'm also working on the pillow situation.

I have bought three sets of curtains in an attempt to figure out...white or beigie.

This picture shows a beigie colour with a design. The colour is too yellowy but I'm using it as a general reference.

This next picture shows a white sheer.

Since the other day and the picture that made me think of your room, I'm loving the idea of white drapes, pillows and lamps for your room. These pics reinforce that opinion for me. I love the white - possibly those are a bit too sheer, but they certainly give me a feeling for the look of white and I like it.

I would recommend hanging a few wall accents and/or pictures. Also, try getting a colorful bed set with multiple pillows and add a throw. I would also add a TV.

I like the white too but these do seem too sheer and almost non-existant. I'll try and look for something more solid white if I'm out tomorrow. White curtains also work when I put on my white quilt in the summer.

After seeing these pics, I'm not even sure they need to be sheer at all, just white - like a linen or something. I do think white is the way to go.

I looked at new duvets when I was out today. Yikes, a king sized one is pricey. I'll do some homework and figure out what fill I want and check the sales. I was cold last night but my warm husband was just right!

Just in case you want to reconsider ordering lamps from Lampsplus, here are two more white possibilities from the same color plus collection you found the Anya in. I think one of these is 29.5" and the other is 30" and both are $99.

How tall are your current ones - the modern one? Measurements are to the top of the finial.

The current lamps we have are 30 inches-up to the top of the finial. I do like the bottom lamp a lot. Not sure what colour the actual base is. What they have listed is not winter white but pure white according to the number.

Have you thought about the Porcelain Blue for your drapes?

Pier1 has some nice bluish drapes. Wasn't sure if they would just blend in too much. Will look at them as well if I can get out today.

I love the lamps you seem to have settled on...trust me...it's time to settle on them :) They lend substance and romance without heavy visuals.

I liked the first draps you showed in the dark picture...or were they the same ones you showed in the "too yellow" pic?

I agree that my lamp search needs to be over...I have bought too many lamps...the current lamps are staying! On a practical point, the double little pulls are good for on/off because it make it easy to turn off/on in bed.

On to curtains. The first ones I posted was a good match colourwise but lacked texture/interest. I returned them. I also returned the other two above. The sheers disappeared and the others were too yellow.

I bought two more sets today.

Thoughts please??

I like the pattern on the first, but the color still too pink...doesn't work well with other large color swath in the room (headboard)

Is it possible to center the bed on the wall?

OK, so if the lamps are staying, the need for white drapes is less than if white lamps were in the room. The white drapes from today aren't bad but I love the ones dclostboy posted from Pottery Barn. I'm not liking any of the beige or tan choices.

I am also not liking any of the beige or white options.
Tomorrow I will look at BB&B at the choice that toomanywhitewalls suggested (comes in a white or blue). I will also see about Pier1 as they have several blue/beige combos that looked interesting on-line and I've included them below.
The PB curtains that dclostboy posted are sumptuous looking. Unfortunately PB is too far for me to go to tomorrow. With the price being much higher than other options (I'd have to order them and each panel is $225 with the exchange rate) I'd like to try a few more options before I check out the PB ones. The are very nice though.

I love your duvet cover. Go back to the pottery barn catalogs showing it on their rooms! Pull out the chartreuse in pillows! Also try this in your lamps. Or the blown glass in a green tone. Also a green upholstery on a bench at the foot of the bed! I love the green in the duvet!

I tried to order the two Pier1 curtains above but they are not shipped to Canada. Bummer.

I went to BB&B and couldn't find the curtains recommended by toomanywhitewalls but came across the one below (Garrison) and have ordered the 96" length which should be shipped in 7-10 days.

My curtains came in and I like them. They are tab top. IMO they are much better suited to the room compared to the beigie or white options I showed before.

While the curtains reflect a color in your duvet, you now need to add a bit more blue to the bed in shams or throw pillows to completely tie together.

The white pillow cases aren't staying. I rec'd the matching sham material last week and will soon make the 3 euro shams to go up against the headboard. I was thinking about a blue with some texture for the king shams and want to keep the green/beigie pillow in the front.

I have the Martha Promenade white panels from JCP in 2 bedrooms. They are beautiful...with a textured linen look and heavier than most sheers. Love them!

I'm not crazy about these drapes. I think they're too blue and they aren't working with the duvet cover. Going back and looking at the previous posts, I'm liking solid white drapes the best, but not too sheer.

Sorry mom3boys I am not a fan of the blue drapes.

So far I've had one yay and two nays for the blue curtains above. I really liked them when I put them up on Sunday but as the days have gone on (and with different lighting at night), my love for them has shifted.

Ann suggested solid white but not sheer. I wasn't a fan of the solid white that I posted above since I plan on making the matching euros and thought about blue king shams (although that can change).

I didn't like the beige curtains because it just seemed like another blob of beige along with the headboard and rug.

I've been gone a long time, but I LIKE the white sheers. All the rest seem way too heavy for the room. Your first instincts were correct. Also, what happened to those cute, bright green pillows? Make the room for YOU. (although I like the idea of the bright white lights, too). Your paint and spread are light and airy-- the headboard and rug are heavy-- you don't need anything else to anchor the room. Just LIVE in it a while and stay out of the stores for at least a month.

I'm like white too - even sheers would be fine but sheers wouldn't be my first choice. I agree that the rest seem too heavy. Right now the wall color and duvet color are really working well together but I think that started to kind of fall apart with the addition of the blue drapes. So, I'd just let the pretty wall color and pretty duvet color be the blues/greens in the room and go with white drapes, along with some white in pillows too (maybe king shams?). I agree the look of beige curtains was dreary.

The carpet mentioned by Wendy Alexanian would look just lovely - very elegant and as she said, will add interest without competing with other items in the room.

I also think the rug suggestion is very nice but the current rug is only a year old and has to stay!

Your wall color is a good neutral. Turn the rug at an angle to give visual interest to the floor and break up the linear look. Use the duvet in another room. Use a bold pattern brown/combo of blues for the comforter/shams, then use sold dark brown or dark blue for the backdrop pillows behind the bed pillows, then decor pillows in a contrasting popping color. Use large bed lamps like Ralph Lauren stacking blue Chinese globe lamps. Over the low dresser,get rid of the picture, hang a very large gold framed mirror with a streamlined gold frame, this will also add lumination to the room. On either side of mirror, another set of large lamps. Move the tall dresser over, add wing chair to whichever side and put a contrasting throws and decor cushion. If you hang any pictures, hang ones that pop but coordinate somewhat with the other colors in room. Look at decorative shower curtains for the windows, they come in a variety of whites and patterns and are not expensive so you can but four and look lush. Get a great curtain rod with decorative ends. Expensive look, not a lot of money. Corner by bathroom, good popping chair with ottoman, all in coordinating colors, but interesting to the eye. Take pictures of the room at all various stages with you when you are shopping so you can visualize as you go. Now go have fun and be confident!!!!

if ure talking shears cover entire wall behind bed / window wall / n wall left of bed if possible / hang shears from ceiling on 4 corners of bed. ure gonna feel like ure in the clouds

Replace the head board with more

Nice bedroom! I really enjoy the style of your room, however I think you should remove the brown rug and add a cream color to lighten up your bedroom. Also adding window curtains will look lovely.
