Mix Making questions...

Okay, finally today I got the stuff and mixed it together. I did a large batch...didn't make quite as much as I expected, but pretty close. I'm a little concerned that I only used about 1/3 of the compressed peat (it was a 2.2 cu ft bale.

I am totally lost on this moistening thing. Here in Indiana there are 2 conditions...WET, and DRY. I know no moderation. Of course its the rainy season here too...May in Indiana...LOL!

I mixed in 3 layers of layers. Pine bark, peat, perlite, lime, mixed added a little water; Round 2: pine bark, peat, perlite, lime, wet lime and perlite, mixed; then pine bark, perlite, peat and mixed. How wet should the final product be? I figure I need to find the energy and strength to stir the pot with the shovel some more because I bet there isn't much lime in the top section.

How hard and fast is the 2 week fermenting period? I have half a dozen starts I would like to get in containers this weekend...but the ones I already did are in old MG soil, which I can redo or just leave be until next year.

Also...I'll be buying several quart & gallon size plants from the nursery...what do I do to them to transfer them to the new mix?
