starting out

OHi,

I'm getting into growing and need some advice. I havemanaged to get a sprout from seed using a cannabis seed. Looks great and healthy. So I went out and bought cherry tomato and habanero seeds.

What I did with the cannabis seed was germinate it in a shot glass filled with distilled water. The seed opened and emerged the root. I planted in fox farm ocean forest potting mix. It is thriving.

I tried the same for the vegetable seeds. Planted them on Apr 8th. I guessing I should see something by the 18th or so?

So just warm and damp. My window sill is where I place them. Gets sun and is warm. I plopped the seeds straight into the soil.

Working on a medical marijuana farm in California got many brother interested in gardening veggies so I'm not offended by your post. :)

    LOL dude.. seriously.

I'm sympathetic to your situation, but there are forums on the web for certain kinds of plants, just look up RollItUp.com or grasscity.com

They have all kinds of information for your specific growing requirements for the kind of plants you are trying to grow.

Rule #1 of fight club - don't talk about fight club. (only talk about fight club AT fight club..)

It applies to all sorts of things.

And for anyone else who might raise an eyebrow at my posts, Those forums are where I found a wealth of information of properly germinating and growing the BEST started seeds I have ever had using a 400W light and proper grow light cycles, not to mention tap water toxicity and pH adjustment for your plants while they are started. I searched google for the info, and those were the results that came up.

I had no idea that my tap water had a pH of 8.5 - but it was, and that was just about lethal to my plants.. they barely grew in past years. Now that I have taken advice from stoners who pay attention to every detail of their particular crop, I've got tomatoes that I started in February that are just about to finish ripening my first tomato and broccoli that is only a few weeks away from finishing HUGE heads.

I've noticed there is a lot more information for growing cannabis, or it seems that way. Every time I try googling a problem with my (vegetable) plants, I have to sift through result after result for the two above mentioned sites.

I know right! those efficient little growers have more skill than most weekend gardeners out there!!

They have charts and tools, and all kinds of information that applies to all plants, large, flowering, and small.

They are also some of the craftiest cloners I have ever seen, I really am impressed with what I see from them. They know where to take a cutting, what rooting hormone works best, what frequency and spectrum of light is best for certain situations, and how to fix problems.

I guess nothing will stand between some people and their desires =)

Or a man and his money. Free market at work.

Yeah, helluva lot more money to me made growing cannabis over any fruit/vegetable. Marijuana is Californias top cash crop.

These guys are masters at hydroponics as well.

All the other inappropriate stuff aside, when it comes to growing vegetables from seed there is a Growing from Seed forum here that covers all the basics from what soil to use, the amount and type of light needed, how to use heat to germinate the seedlings, etc.

Just go to that forum and check out all the FAQs there.
