Garden Plan Need Help PLEASE

I need some thoughts on what I am thinking of doing. I want to lay newspaper on the garden bed for weed control. Then cover it with a thin layer of topsoil. I also want to get some red worms and put them on top and let them work down. I am wondering if I can put coffee grounds, egg shells, banana peels ect. in the vegetable garden to feed them. We are not talking like TONS of scraps either just a little every once in a while.

Sounds like that would work to me. If you really want to get into this issue, try the Composting Forum... that's all those guys talk about and they are CRAZY into it! Its one of my favorite forums. Good luck!

I would'nt put red worms on top of the soil. The worms are already in the soil. With the paper and mulch down and enough moisture the worms will do their work underneath. They will not come to the surface to eat the scraps. Better to dig a hole for the scraps and cover. Dig the holes in the pathways. You can put any type of vegie scraps and egg shells in the hole. Worm love newspaper.
