eggplant resurrection

I tried to grow an eggplant in a container last year, with so-so results. At the end of the season, I just left it in its pot, and forgot about it. Over the winter, it lost most of its leaves, and started looking a little dead.

However, just today, I noticed that it's flowering! There are clusters of new leaves near the ends of the branches, and some flowers.

My question: since there is so much leaf-less stem (about a foot), should I re-pot the plant in a bigger pot, and bury the leaf-less parts? Or should I leave it where it is? Alternately, should I repot anyway (without burying the stems), since I haven't amended the soil in the container at all?

Thanks!
