Self watering containers

I'm looking for a self-watering container that I can insert into my planter. Someone told me about the one that Planter Technology makes that actually has the ability to let the plant dry out so that the soil is not always soggy. When I searched on the internet, I also came across Smart Planters. Can anyone comment on the two items above (good or bad)? And can anyone recommend any other brands as well. I'm looking for ones that are "intuitive" enough to let the plant dry out a bit (if these containers do exist). Any suggestion is much appreciated.
