Hello, are you keeping the piece over the fireplace? If so I would use the yellow ones as they support and not compete with that one. I would place them a little below so that the center picture is the highest one. Hope that helps.

Oh your welcome! So if you are keeping that one then use the yellow ones as I suggested. I would remove the masai warriors and perhaps the balls. Group that little bunch of flowers on the mantle to the right and below the art, this will ground the art and creat the association with the two yellow flowers.

I'm happy to report the warriors and the balls are going to my bathroom upstairs. I realised (too late!) I hadn't removed them (had a different theme in the room). I was thinking of a couple of candlesticks on the left / right and then plant / flowers the opposite side, but love your idea of the yellow and red to tie in. Would you say to hang the pictures in line with the bottom of the one over the mantle, or just the middle?

Could you take a picture of someone holding one up beside the fp so I can see the scale? Or tell me the sizes of the middle one and the yellow ones please?

If you intend to keep the street scene over the fireplace, the bold florals will overpower it.
You might consider hanging a group of black and white photographs instead.

Since you love the street scene over the fireplace- what about finding pieces that you also love for the other areas. Black and white photos would be a great addition to the room. I am not a fan of the flowers.

Great to hear so many opinions! The large picture is 31inches x 31 inches, the flowers are 20 inches x 20 inches. I appreciate that the yellow could overpower the picture above the fireplace, but I just find the room a bit dull without any colour to make it pop...

I can see you have a bold red and black color scheme going. How about something like this to add the pop you desire?

Good morning tuecker, the flowers are not perfect for that purpose but it was because you asked which of these would be best and that you wanted to be a bit bold that I answered the way I did. If you want advice on the best way to complete that wall of course we can all give advice on that. Of the pictures you showed us, I chose the yellow flowers as the others had too much red and would draw attention away from the street scene. The yellow allows the street scene to take center place which it is doing. The centre one is bigger thats good. Without seeing the whole room and being able to judge the distances between walls etc. I would say that the seating area seems to be grouped around the fp? If so I would perhaps try the artwork centered into the right side between wall opening and the fp. Drop it down to the height of the fp mantle and take a good look and see if that looks correct to you. If it looks right then hang the other one the same distance from the fp. That left wall seems much longer than the right so we will use the right side as the indicator. Hope that helps! If you decide you do not want to use those pieces then the first thing I would say is have your lovely picture framed, it would give it more importance and add much to the fp.

I looked at your fireplace wall again and I would group all 3 flowers above the fireplace and move the street scene to eye level somewhere else in the room where you can see the detail of that piece.

Your fireplace wall needs some more visual impact with large bold design to balance out the striped black and white rug on the floor. The painting of the street scene is not graphic enough to carry that off.

Here is a similar fireplace and an art grouping. Notice the scale of the art and the fireplace together. You want to have the size of your art grouping to have as much visual weight as your fireplace. Since your fireplace is dark on a lighter colored wall it has lots of visual weight. With larger art pieces you balance that weight and transition the eye to flow around your space.
