need help

Hi everyone,

I have some questions on a matter that involves landscaping and mulch work i'm not sure where to post these so if someone could lead me in the right direction that would be very helpful. I will ask here too in hopes that someone can give me some advice. My most important quwestion is this....Me and my DW pulled out a bunch of what i think was ferns(they come up every year)and also some fall blooming flower things that also come back every year and we didn't get all the roots or balls for better lack of terminoligy. we then put down black plastic thinking it would kill off what we left. Well we were wrong... the dang fern things are pushing there way through the black plastic. So what i was wondering is if we are going to have to pull all the mulch and black plastic back up and dig everyone of these things out of the ground? Or can we just pile a bunch more cedar chips on top? If there is some other way it sure would be nice to know....cause it was alot of work the first time!! I can imagine taking it all back off and then doing it all again(sigh)Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated or some guidance to a post that would know would also be nice thanks. I have included this pic so everyone could get an idea of the size of things. I wish i had a before pic!!

Karl

You can still see some of the fall blooming flowers on the very left of the photo right next to the house(roundup?!!)
