Low temps can render pollen non-viable just like very high temps can. Add high humidity and it is a double whammy. Okra, which normally thrives in high heat, would be especially vulnerable to poor pollination problems in low temps.

Agreed with Dave.At temp. below 50 deg. F Okra will stop growing.

Thanks. Dang...it doesn't look like I have much time for okra left. We get fall in the last week of August. I guess the humidity really does aggravate things, because okra in containers outside are producing a bit (but those plants look pitifully small).

I live in New Zealand, April is Autumn, Day temp. is in the upper sixties and night at 60F, rain is on off , as is humidity? My OKRA which I planted outside has produced some earlier but for the last four weeks the pods produced turn yellow and die? I tried hand pollination but with no success ? shall I give up trying and call it a day? as it is getting cooler with time?
