I have a Hosui and a 20th century in Austin. They are doing really good. Much better than the Fuyu persimmons. I have not had any fireblight problems with my asian pear trees yet. Keep my fingers crossed. This is the 3rd growing season and there are a few pears on both trees now.

the Texas A&M report i've seen are 10 years old. but when they decided to evaluate the hosui, shinseiki, & 20'th century, they probably passed on evaluating the korean giant & shinko for good reasons. but based upon report in other parts of the country, the korea giant & shinko are often the best.

so many choices, not enough land....

I know this is a very old post but I planted a hosui and shinko pear tree in Mckinney. My shinko has done very well, but my hosui has struggled to bloom on schedule and produce fruit. How did it end up in Dallas?
