I have no idea what that mutation is. It looks kinda like another ear of corn growing out of the first one from the picture.

I've seen something like that before [on the internet...] has to do with both male & female reproductive parts on the same part, like hermaphrodite. The other pic I've seen is corn kernels growing on the tassles...

This is common on some sweet corn varieties. It is usually found on the tops of suckers that grow from the base of the main stalk. A modified ear of corn will form if the silks get pollinated.
