What will be the result of snipping vegetative shoots off my apple trees this early in the growing season? I had many verticle shoots growing on my espelier apple trees in my front yard which I cut off to about an inch long. Was this the right or wrong thing to do? I am attempting a three tiered fence, so obviously the trees need to be managed aggressively. I hope you understand what I mean.
