Need sweet potato expert

I ordered some sweet potato seedlings in the spring. My goal was to grow them in pots as an ornamental vine. It really worked and was much cheaper than buying sweet potato vines at a nursery. Now I have many small sweet potatoes in the pots and I am wondering if I can save them, something like a dahlia corm, plant them again in the spring, and will they produce vines for me? Or I could just bring in the whole pot, store it in the basement, and take it out and start watering it in the spring. We live in a cold part of PA and they will freeze outside. Any advice?
