Red Entry Door: Black or Brushed Nickel Handleset & Knocker?

We recently painted our front door red (Moroccan Red by Ben Moore). Now I would like to change the door hardware (i.e. handle set, door knocker) from brass to either BLACK or BRUSHED NICKEL, as our taste is more contemporary/modern. See photos attached, what do you think? Pros and cons to each color....

Love the cheerful red door! Take your entry lanterns into consideration as you select door hardware. Either finish you are contemplating would work with your exterior.

We went with the brushed nickel. The black looked terrible! Also, I took away the kick plate. We didn't really need it and the look without it is much softer.

Here is a picture. (Ignore the hanging decoration for Chinese New Year.). Still need to update my sconces, but they are fine for the time being.

Remove or paint out the kick plate to black and change the door handle to black.
