Or there is a slit in the wall to slip the glass into.

Kevin is right. Hardware was installed with hardware attached to the wall, then the tile was applied, then the glass was installed - slipping into the grooves. The tile finisher came back and attached mosiacs to the hardware to finish the look and hide the hardware.

Go to google and look up floating glass shelves. No hardware. We used it in our last home and there were fabulous looking. Building another home and will use them again.

Thanks Initially Yours but unfortunately the floating shelves.com glass shelves won't work for me as I have an unusual alcove and need custom shape glass shelves so wanted to know where I can buy the metal hardware strips.
