Construction dust on tomatoes

There's a new house going up next door. I just had a re-roof done- removal of 3 layers of old asphalt shingles, roofing paper and cedar shakes followed by
a new asphalt roof. My organically grown tomatoes are now covered in dust.
Can I wash them and eat them? I keep telling myself that even if I bought them at a farmers market I'd have no way of knowing what happened on their farm before they sold them.
