Lighted onyx stairs

I was searching lighted onyx and this picture showed up, I would like to know what type of lighting was used? Rope lighting? LEDs? any idea?

may i know what type of light use in handril & oynex and is their any frame in oynex or simple fitted without any frame

Usually, when backlighting onyx you can use edge-lit or back-lit panels to supply a nice even and bright light source. www.knema.com has a lot of different options for backlighting stone.
