Bedrrom Help and Advice

My bedroom has an irregular shape because it was originally 2 bedrooms converted into one. The back window that rests behind my bed is off center. In a previous post someone recommended draping the entire back wall with a track system which we are still very interested in doing. Since then we have purchased new furniture and are really looking for some help in decorating the room. On top of the two dressers it was suggested to put 2 matching mirrors which i like this idea. My husband says he would like some more input. Ideally this is my FAVORITE room, i love everything about it and this was also the inspiration for our bedding:

My husband says he does not want an all gray room or he is just being difficult :)

Anywho suggestions with paint and lamps are greatly appreciated as well as any other ideas for furniture placement or statement pieces.

warm white lightglobes, donkey grey walls, lush taupey rug, giant mirror, your husband and you can both choose a cushion each and agree on the third, ideally have a window each! x

    a window each?

My thoughts...wall to wall grey (linen?) drapes behind the bed & leave the rest of the walls white; pull the carpet out from under the bed more (so its not under the nightstands); a second piece of (similarly sized) artwork over the second dresser; pull a couple of colours from the artwork and buy toss cushions for the bed; perhaps a large standing/leaning mirror in the corner near the door?

Good luck--love your inspiration room and your choices so far!

I must say I'm with your husband in not going for grey. It looks dull to me

I have the same window problem. I created the illusion of balance by creating a fake window with drapery. I just draped them as if there is a window next to the real one and the change is fabulous. I like the gray but I would use very elegent fabrics with texture and shine to create sort of glam look. Gray is dull just by itself. If you are staying with the monochrome scheme remove that print from your wall because it has color and seems out of place. Replace with lush black and white photos or prints.

We like the monochrome idea, going with the gray curtain behind the bed. We will be removing the frame on top of the dresser. ideally I would love to put a large floor mirror in the corner near the door but this means it would be leaning on the curtain. This might not work but I definitely need a mirror somewhere in the room. If this does not work we were thinking of putting a nice large statement chair (west elm has quite a few).I thought of putting 2 matching mirrors on the dressers but my husband thinks this would not look right. I also would like to put something under the TV maybe a table.

Stacey: What do you mean by: "flank opposite window with 2 more panels to create cohesion"
On the wall opposite your bed I would use the same panels as behind your headboard to create an cozy, cohesive look. Then on the wall to the right (as you look at your bed) I would hang a collection of frames (possibly of same wood as lamps) with pictures- family, you & your husband, and also include a shadowbox with an item or collection of something that is special to you two. Seashells, driftwood, postcard, love letter- whatever with the art in a frame you already have. To keep it from going 'cold' use lots of textures like chunky throws, organic wood, reflective surfaces....Hope that helps!
