I have a 10 yo Horse which does not call for any greasing of the rear tine shaft. I think those bearings are lubricated by the gear oil. The only grease in that area gets put onto the clutch dog accessed by loosening and swinging out the two bolts that attach the rear tiller assembly to the transmission case (dog slides on a shaft to engage/disengage tine shaft).

I don't know about anything but the Horse model, and Berrypatch is correct. The only place you use grease on the tiller unit is where the tiller connects to the engine portion, as described above. If yours is NOT a Horse, then I don't know the answer to your question.

The oil seals are there because that area contains gear oil, which provides the required lubrication. No grease.
