Grape Arbor ideas

I would like to build a grape arbor, about 10 feet wide and six feet deep. I just want a small area for two chairs and a table in my garden area. I would like to have it about eight feet tall with lattice on the back, if possible.

I would love to grow grapes, but I'm also looking for a way to bring shade into a very hot garden area. Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions, or maybe pictures? Thanks for the input!

I have fond memories of warm summer gatherings under my grandfather's grape arbor, situated along the south border of his extensive gardens in Newport, RI. It was perhaps my first introduction to wine making - albeit, without yet understanding the REAL reason wine for wine consumption.

Included in my home grounds master-plan is a design for a pergola/grape arbor. When it comes to fruition, I will post photos . . . perhaps before then, I'll share some sketches I've developed. Either way, I'll monitor this thread for member contributions.

Excuse the typo . . . perhaps influenced by a few glasses too many of fermented fruit-of-the-vine. ;-)
