Good manual grass whip or scythe?

I'm mowing grass paths in a vegetable garden using a manual push reel mower I picked up secondhand. It works great, but leaves some tall grass stems standing. I'd like to knock these down using some sort of manual tool that I can swing while standing up.

Has anyone found a good grass whip or scythe that would do a nice job on sparse grass stalks (and maybe the occasional weed)?

Thanks, fruitjarfla. As I mentioned, I'm looking for a tool that someone has used and recommends. In other words, a tool whose length, balance, blade, and design make it well-suited, in the opinion of a fellow gardener.
