Quick (hopefully) Backflow Preventer question

After pressurizing sprinklers for the first time this year I'm finding a steady drip coming from the backflow prevention device. I think it may be a gasket inside (need to investigate) so I shut down the water valves to it (outside).

It's a dumb question- but is this a safe practice? There is an inside shut off.. and then another shut off valve outside.. then a drain valve... then the backflow device.. then another shutoff valve. I've got all three outside valves closed. I left the inside valve turned on for now.

Also, any idea what I'm looking for in the device itself?

I pulled it apart utilizing the info found in this video:

I found that I have a broken o-ring.. although I may have broken it taking it out.. but maybe note. I will replace the ring (if I can find a match) and see if that helps.

If anyone is familiar with the watts brand of backflow prevention devices.. do you know if the home depots of the world sell the repair kits?

Sorry to say it but home depot will not carry it. If you check with your local plumbing supply house they can order it or you can look up the Watts home page and may be able to order it from them directly.
