Should this sapling be pruned?

Greetings everyone.
I had planted this cassia fistula sapling in our courtyard two years ago in the hope that it would grow to a height of around 10-12 feet and provide a great canopy. For the first two years it hardly grew, and was really sickly looking. HereâÂÂs some images of it until a few months back.

I discussed the problem with members here, and following some advice, research and intuition, I had a sunlight reflector made to provide it with around 3 more hours of sunlight, and began watering and fertilising it much more heavily. The tree seems to have responded pretty well, and this is its current state.

IâÂÂd like your opinions on whether the tree should be pruned to encourage growth of what I was looking to make the leader branch (marked in red). Numerous other branches have now started forming, which IâÂÂve marked in blue, and those are the ones I was looking to trim away. Would it be prudent at this stage?

Half of what IâÂÂve read online says pruning encourages stronger growth of the leading trunk, but the other half says you shouldnâÂÂt trim saplings because fewer leaves mean less photosynthesis.

Thanks a lot
