Stone is porous so harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia can seep into the surface and cause a permanent stain.

The basic recommendation is daily soap and hot water (rinse well). Clean up spills as soon as they happen to avoid stains, especially from oil or lemon juice.

I've used Orange Pledge to clean my black granite for 14 years now and it looks like new. I wipe up spills and then spray.

I just remembered the guy who sold us the granite said to use regular Windex window spray. Anyone know about this? Seems fairly harsh to me.

I use Method spray products. They are a natural cleaning product that can be purchased at Target and Home Depot. Or when I do a deep cleaning, I just use a bit of Murphys oil soap and dilute it with hot water, wash with a bar mop. Twice a year, I use a OTC granite spray sealer.
