I have a willow just like that, and planted another one at another property I used to own. It was obvious that both of mine were growing toward light, and although they don't appear to have overhead shade, they are shaded to one side by a much larger tree and it blocks the sun on some branches during parts of the day. Are you sure you aren't having that situation?

I have a Pacific willow that is potted and doing the same thing, eventhough I've tried turning the pot. I've given out several Pacific willows this year, and they, too, have all grown in the same fashion.

I have a willow that i planted 2 years sgo that is the same…did yours survive? i think the trunk on mine is very small for its height and it kerps getting blown over
