I painted mine a rich dark chocolate brown. I removed the doors to my vanity cabinet and hung a curtain in the same color. It looks like your tiles and floor are beige so the brown would work, and you have bright white moldings which make the room look nice and crisp. Oh, and I also painted the vanity top to look like granite, very easy to do. Question: Am I crazy or does that mirrored cabinet look like it's hung upside down? That's a great idea! I'm kind of new at the whole painting thing, so i'm just wondering did you have to sand, and is there a paint that you prefer? About the mirrored cabinet...wow you are right! I've never noticed that before!

Roxanne - my cabinets were previously painted, not unpainted like yours. I try to never sand anything; I hate the work and the dust!!! But, yes, I think yours would need to be sanded first, just to remove the gloss. Before you sand, wash them well with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser; this will remove ALL dirt and some of the gloss to make the sanding easier. You should be able to get away with a light sanding, say, 180-220 grit sandpaper.

I'm old and therefore I've used just about every paint on the market. Behr Premium Plus is the best, hands down. You'll pay about $4 more per gallon but it includes the primer so that saves $$$ and time. They sell it at Homey Depot. Please (this is a pet peeve of mine!) remove all hinges and knobs before you paint. It is an extra step but painted hinges NEVER look good. And you may not like the color of the existing hardware after you paint, anyway.

Oh good! I'm glad you think that cabinet is upside down too! Whew!

I think you an brighten it up a lot using white and switch out the hardware with silver. You can get inexpensive knobs and pull sets at Home Depot or Lowe's. Good luck and enjoy

Sorry, forgot one more thing. If you decide to paint, whatever color you choose - when you buy your painting supplies buy a tack rag - it's important to remove ALL sanding dust before you paint.
