I think so; just be sure that is not the only rustic touch. Otherwise, it just looks like a faux pas. Now you have a good excuse to shop for some other pieces of rusticity!

I also believe its okay. It's a matter of scale-since, at least IMO, a really rough, rocky surface on a planter would probably elicit some frowns sitting next to a very traditional, dark wood Chippendale chair-except for some people with very eclectic tastes, Just some thing in darker metal-like the bronze you mentioned-or a clay or stoneware item would look just fine as part of the entire decor, and, as decoenthusiaste said, not just a solitary item that would call attention to its location in the scheme of things.

Have you put it in there to see if YOU like it? That is what is important. I personally do not like everything matching - and probably would say it is exactly what the room needs! That is just me - I'm very eclectic to begin with. It might be that you are wanting some variety - this sounds like a great place to start.
