If you are going to actually cook in your kitchen, I would avoid flat finishes since they do not scrub well at all. Satin to semi-gloss is usually used because of that. If it is one of those lovely kitchens that are there because they look marvelous but never are used, it doesn't matter. A friend of mine did her kitchen in a low gloss - it doesn't look shiny at all but seems very durable. I would check with different paint manufacturers for their opinions on their paint.

Thanks Kathleen! I agree - I think a satin or low gloss on the cabinets and trim would work nicely with a flat or eggshell finish on the walls. If anyone has any recommendations on a grayish Benjamin Moore paint color that would give me this look on the cabinets, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have you heard of Sarah Richardson? She is a very well known designer here in Canada. I love her work. I came across a colour of hers that I think would look wonderful in your kitchen. FROTH; it's a lighter shade of cafe' au lait-a, a delectable neutral colour that can be used anywhere. It is also one of my favourite paint colours. Check out her web site. Sarah101. I would try Elmira White by Benjamin Moore. It's a match to these cabinets, a dirty white with a gray undertone. Flat looks great on the ceilings, eggshell on walls and semi-gloss on trim. Great kitchen, you picked a good one. Hope that helps. Charmean Neithart
