Two Way Fireplace Decor.........NO idea where to start

We just moved into a new home and I am pretty much clueless on where to begin with decor picks. This is a picture of our two way fire place on the kitchen side. We've purchased 2 accent/reading chairs, do we face them towards the fireplace or facing out? What accessories should we use for the mantel and near the floor? THANKS FOR ANY IDEAS :))))

Maybe create a square or rectangular seating area, defined by an area rug? The area will be separate from kitchen. Then you could possibly have the chairs and an end table in between chairs, or even a small coffee table?

Most definitely get an area rug to define your space around the fireplace. What might help is to measure the area and draw out a plan on paper. Make little paper chairs, chase lounge (you get the idea) a lot easier to ‘move’ then the real thing. What do you want to use the space for? Coffee area? Cozy reading? Nothing set in stone so let your imagination fly.
