Hi JoJo, I save everything too...like the bakery boxes with the clear dome tops..people see the cake or pie, I see little green house....lol
I use them and they are about 2 inches deep...usually I transplant after the second leaf grows...I'm sure others will comment how they all grow seeds, I will be watching and reading for new ideas....linda

I use about any container I can get my hands on too. But for some things, stuff I don't want to transplant, the seeds take up to a year to germinate, etc. I just start in 1 or 5 gallon pots. Like sago palms, they can take a year for the seeds to germinate but they are a slow grower the first year or two, so those go in a one gallon pot in the back of the garden and get ignored. Confederate rose are small seeds but they grow quickly, I usually trade most of them off so I start them in 1 gallon pots, 5 gallon if I want it for the yard.

Thank you for your help! Good to hear someone else is using the same as me. I also have the strawberry clear plastic boxes with a lid. I just line those with seran wrap because the have all the slits in them.

Everything is in the house right now, so I cant have water going everywhere.

Beachplant thank you! If I start anything bigger, I will keep that in mind. I'm thinking maybe I should have started my mystery seed in a bigger container! ROFL!

We use 4' pots at the green house, I also use 4" pots If I want to be sure of the species that I hand bred, it has the depth, they need, and I wait until the 50 seeds crowd the pot then transplant. I do not rush them, it is so much fun. I also grow haworthia, gasteria, aloe from seed, I ususally drop the seed directly in the pot that the mama plant grew, and they do just fine without me doing that much, Norma
