We're in the San Jose area and the Crape Myrtle shot out leaves back in late March. But keep the faith - it's probably just a little shocky from transplant. I'd give it another year, but I'm a softie. Give it a little fertilizer, a deep watering, and mulch well. This warm weather we're enjoying should make the tree happier.

I'd give it more time. I got a sucker about 3 years ago from a friend and never thought it would survive. One nursery even told me to toss it since very little roots. The other told me to toss it in water for a week and that was in August. I did that and then planted in a pot which of course losts all its leaves early and last fall was mature enough to put in the ground.
It actually flowered in the pot and I think will flower this year also.
IMO they are hardy and very tolerate of some abuse.

I also would not do anything now, except to make sure the soil does not become completely dry. I never fertilize a plant that is not growing, so would hold off on that. You do not mention pruning your tree so assume you did not. I would have then but would not right now. There is a lot of energy stored in the wood of the tree and I would not give it up until next spring. Al

Thanks for the replies. I will wait it out and see. I had heard of comeback stories but I didn't know what the limit was.
