I think I just found the answer. I think it's a purseweb spider.
I'm not a fan of spiders. I was just out in the yard getting ready to mow my weeds (I'm a fan of weeds over grass because nature enjoys it) when i saw that giant thing on the ground. It was covered with ants and I figured it was dead. I took a large grass stalk and poked it and it bite the piece of grass. I could lift it up by it just biting the grass and holding on.

It later ran into my front flowerbed. So remind me not to walk in there barefoot anymore. :)

I was happy to see a hummingbird last week but I'm not enthused by this find.

Eeek! That is the nastiest arachnid I've ever seen.

Good Lord!...you live in Cary?!...not the Congo?!....that thing doesn't look like it belongs here in Carolina...yikes.
