Violas don't usually do well once it gets hot out; they also will do better in part shade, no afternoon sun, especially in your climate. Any chance you can hang those baskets somewhere else? or use plants that can take the heat and full sun? I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed in violas under those conditions. Even in Indiana with only morning sun, I had trouble getting them through the summer, and they wouldn't bloom once it got hot. Check out plants that do well in the heat and sun and you'll be a lot happier, I think.

I agree that they wouldn't last long in the hot sun, but if you find a cool shady spot for them I like them with lime green or almost yellow and dark purple coleus. Pinch back the coleus often when grown in basets so it dosn't get too tall or consider a large pot. If you do the pot you could use the tall purple millit grass with it and a trailer like one of the bright yellow vincas.

I agree viola's can't take the heat> A very simple container combo that I use over and over is --1 evergreen giant liriope in center of pot,then encircle with the johnny jump-ups. I make these for gifts all the time. The are good from october til may around here. Once the 80's hit they are goners-- If I use viola's in bed situation
