I would check Camellia Forest in Chapel Hill. Their website has a good description of the cryptomeria that they carry. there is a very wide variety of size among cryptomerias. some only gor a foot...also, conditions affect them. i have a Black Dragon that has stayed under 10 ft and is lovely, but i think that in a bit more sun it would get taller.

The really big ones are Sekkan Sugi, Radicans, Tarheel Blue. I have 5 of the big ones. I lost 2 that were planted last summer in the drought.

The smallest ones, Globosa Nana (3x3), literally killed every perennial planted below my two on the slope last year! I've not had problems with the "trees", just the shrub sized.

PDN has a few of them in their landscape and nursery. That's where I first saw and fell for them. :)

My thanks to dogridge! This thread has been very helpful. I'm needing a 'shield my virgin eyes from the unmowed lawn next door' tree/plant/shrub for right outside my front door. Have debated for years what to try and now finding that there are 'dwarf' cryptomerias makes me very happy.

I have a very large, very beautiful cryptomeria (lost the tag, don't remember the species) to the left of my garage - too large for the right side space, but I do love the tree. Placing a smaller version on the right will perfectly balance the yard.

There's definitely a trip to Camellia Forest in my future. Thanks, dogridge!
