The first one does look like clematis "Ville de Lyon" to me and your second one looks like Clematis "Ernest Markham"....Jeanne

Neither one looks like Ville de Lyon to me. The top one has pointy tips and VdL are rounded. Certainly could be wrong.

You know....I went out to look at the whole plant and there are only a couple of blooms with pointy petals. The rest are actually a bit more round. Here are a few more pics of flowers also from the first plant...

I would say the color here is probably a little more accurate too since I had to use the flash now that the sun is low.

I would agree that neither look like Ville de Lyon to me. Not going to venture a guess as to what it might be though the second one reminds me of Abundance to some degree.

I appreciate the input. I was so certain that I would recall the names after looking around. But my brain has been through a bit of a scuffle and apparently those particular details have been lost forever!

Thank you, Buyorsell....they are beautiful! Maybe if I go clean the garage out I wil find my tags. But I'm afraid the DH probably tossed the lot of them out (along with my concert t-shirts from the 80s.....shhhh don't tell him I said that because he's tired of hearing it LOL).

That isn't my Ville de Lyon, mine has never looked that good. I took the photo at a public garden last month.

I don't think so....CdB is so much lighter than what I have. It'll come....I have faith that I'll get this figured out!
