Please help with ruby ball cacti grafting

I have four ruby ball(moon cactus, Gymnocalycium mihanovichii) they all sit atop the same green stalk pictured on

(the same as the green stalk most first pictured on google images under ruby ball cactus)

Will they be able to live their full lives on this or will I need to graft them onto a new cactus in order for them to live for more than about 7 months? If I do need to graft them which is the absolute hardiest, strongest, hard to ever kill cactus I can use to graft them?

Also, the oldest ruby ball cactus' (ive had for about 6 months, give or take) green stalk's bottom half/bottom 1/4 has turned an off white color(the ball itself seems fine) What can/should I do about this? Is it fine or threatening? Would it be safer to leave it like that than to cut it bottom half..or whatever needs to be done?

I also have a few little what i think are broken off balls from different ruby ball cacti, they are the four little balls connected to the cactus shown on

I was told these could be planted and turned into new cacti, is this true and how should I go about growing them?

Thank you so much for any help and Im sorry if they are silly questions but I adore my beautiful little cacti
