decoentrusiaste- you are right...I just tacked the print up & too pink/dark.....not in love with it/not worth reframing - something i picked up at an estate sale. Not sure of scale I should be looking for...thinking more interesting object/objects hung there than another print? Want to stay on lighter side as room tends to get dark. gear wheels will go back by a barn pring in basement... hhhhmmmm....it's so much closer! Your editing is sssoooo helpful! I'll keep my thinking cap on & let me know if u come up with something...it is a 6' wall. & Thank you!

I would have changed that up many times over BUT i still use if for circulation in the summer so have not given it up. with the elevated ceiling on that side of the room, it is fairly hidden. The actual name is roughlinen.com but they were selling linen fabric and I didn't see the blue. The softest pale blue shouldn't seem too bold. You need a little bit of kick! Do you have a fabric source where you live? Wouldn't have to be linen, but something softer and less $$$. Polished cotton would have the weight to drape nicely. If you want to splurge have them lined and innerlined. What style of art do you like? Landscape, contemporary, etc. Going to bed now...

Good morning! This will be a short day online for me, but I'm thinking the blue piece will look great centered on the 10' wall since it is a bit too large for the 4' one and needs to be away from any light switches. Might need to scooch the sofa a bit forward or back just to get a balanced feeling with the arm under the piece. If there's an outlet, try a third lamp, a bit larger in scale, on the sofa table with a floral arrangement (maybe a bowl of roses) and a family portrait photo framed in black. A bit of black never hurts a room and you already have a few black accents. Another option is to move the other matching lamp to this table and the floor lamp you have to the French door corner with the two vertical prints. I do think you need a mirror but not as large as your gold framed one, and not square, since the other art is already squaring up. Check at homedecorators.com for decorative and fancier ones to put left of the French doors. Might consider black or some bling for the frame. I think a starburst would work there but I'm kinda tired of them. Look for something else round(or curvy) to break up squares and rectangles. You need two prints to flank the window on the right of the bumpout, so keep your eyes open for a pair. For a different effect you might try a water color floral or landscape - a theme different from the ones by the door. Try a mid-height leafy plant in a pretty ceramic container on the left of the TV built-in and a taller one in place of the floor lamp on the right. If you don't want the issues of water on floors, look for these in silk and spend more to make sure they don't look so fake. As for your fan, have you seen a "fandelier?" Someone at HGTV's Rate My Space posted a tutorial for making your fan into a chandy. Really a fun idea you should check out! Have a great weekend tweaking your room!

This is a really beautiful room with a gorgeous color blend. The one thing that keeps catching my eye each time I look at the room is the tall white vertical built-in shelf unit in the middle of the one wall. The curved top of that unit is the only different line on a wall with all straight lines and my eye is attracted to the curve, even though it is not the center of interest in your room. If you kept the top molding white and painted the rest of the unit to match your walls, it would no longer break up that wall. You could take out the shelves and put in the niche one tall vase, something like raku or glass with bamboo or curly willow. Even a light set into the top of the niche would help. That would soften all the verticals on that wall and throw the eye back down into the center of the room to your lovely chairs.

Jillian , , , can you sew? I saw a commercial nautical sop that put rows of sea green fabric on the ceiling . Curtain rods (invisible) that went across the room horizontally with about 6-12" of clean and neat solid fabric bands that just simply hung there for no reason. It brings in soft color, hides wall imperfections, and feels like sea waves. It was stunning!

found a couple of mirrors on resale sites...they need doctored up with right paint treatment...any thoughts? the pie crust mirror is 27"...not sure how big the other mirror is.

Yes, I like the one on the right - piecrust! It has a little sheen which is just what you need in that corner. Can you doctor it and not lose the blingy color? Might try Hobby Lobby or Michaels for a product to do it.

Well, I repurposed my gold mirror...I had a couple of mirrors tucked away & used as templates and the round did seem to be off balance. (27" piecrust mirror would have been too small & not filled up space in the room). I applied dark paint/ letting some gold show through (similar to the clock finish) and then drybrushed cream for a "distressed" look as the brown & gold was too harsh. Again, using what I have...it would probably look better with a bit larger, squarer mirror. thoughts? Also, the blue lamp went back to it's home in front room as it really was eye catching where it was. I'm thinking of adding a creamy textural lamp in the corner in its place. Oh, also raised curtain rod.
Figured I could change out the pinecones/white pumpkins in the vase in front of the mirror with silver & gold xmas ornaments in winter & starfish shells in summer. More suggestions welcome please:)

Your welcome.Moving the mirror higher will be good. I think it should not be any lower than the pictures on the other side of the door, a floating shelf sounds like a good solution.

Just a hair higher! Maybe even with top or bottom of the two on the right. Still think the squares and rectangles need to be counter balanced with some rounds and curves though. Can you use the 27" mirror as a tray on the coffee table with some decor items on it? Drapes look better raised. Where is the floor lamp that was in the corner by the built-in? I thought that might work back in that corner. Keep after it!

It must be the angle of pic because mirror measures exactly same distance down from crown mold as top pic. Yes, I thought round mirror would be the way to go as well, but template I made didn't fill space & looked lopsided. Also I didn't have the mirror yet, would have had to drive an hour 1/2 to pick it up so I started playing with what I had. Added the round green wreath to soften the rectangular mirror and curved cream vase as well.. I took floor lamp out- was just tall enough to hide both pics & the drum shade was a little cheap looking. The dark mirror stands out much better in that corner than silver or gold or the large art. Thought I could add a little bling & interest with seasonal decor in the vase. On my shopping list= pedestal round end table to replace squared one between chairs & a very pretty ceramic lamp in a creamy/tannish natural color & textural(I think) to coordinate with existing lamps...no more than 25" tall. Will hit tj maxx & homegoods/marshalls hopefully in a couple of weeks (nothing is close:) If you have any other ideas...please send them my way! Thank you!! Oh...also spyed a crystal chandelier in local antique store...thinking about it:)

I'm not hosting Thanksgiving this year but have an 8 yr old's birthday party this weekend...I think I'll block the door! haha:) Yes the chandy would replace ceiling fan...I'll probably miss it next summer:( so taking my time

Like these styles, but look short. Might keep your eye open for similar. The orange one is my favorite but didn't seem to post, if you could find one like it in your creamy color.

I may also do some square panel work on the lower portion of that back wall as well & paint it white to give more interest to that side of the room. Never without a project:)

I had a vision of your wall early this morning. Just sharing. A cultured stone slab (mantle) with the lamp off to the left and a grouping of mirrors next to it with luminaries made from the lamp colors. It was gorgeous!

Hi decoenthusiaste! I did have a great Thanksgiving & TY! Yes-summer will be here before we know it. I know the room would look much better with a chandi but I would miss the air flow without fan so will live with it for now. Hope you have been well & I really enjoyed your direction on this room. I made the mirror- was a challenging project but rewarding too.

I would move the two club chairs toward the French doors and put the dark brown table and ottoman(?) between them with the lamp on this table. I would not use the remaining white piece in this room. I would hang artwork in the 4 foot space and leave the floor space open, this could be a grouping of four prints or original art. An area rug would would be nice but needs to be large enough to anchor the whole grouping of furniture. Could be patterned or not depending on how you want your room to feel. I would also also use a larger piece of art on the wall behind the chair group. Something large that would be a good focal for this side of the room and not hung too high. Your room is really pretty and you have done a great job.

I had also "revamped" the other large gray/blue/white art in the room. I bought it at a discount "weekend" store for $20 when it was black, awful green & brown:) Will maybe change curtain panels in future for something more airy with color but living with it for now. TY

That is what someone at work told me when they saw what I used (throw aways for most). I bought the center 8" mirror from hobby lobby (less than $3 on the 1/2 price sale) & glued rope in the center /spray painted all prior to glueing mirror on top. It took me 6 hours, lots of cutting
& a couple of blisters later-dried it for 4 days under...what else...my CEILING FAN..LOL.
