Does anyone have experience with KMX pine (P. attenuata x P. radiata)? They are apparently being used to re-establish forests in Oregon and have a very fast growth rate, although my understanding is that they are still too new to forestry for anyone to know how they perform over the long term or if there are any major problems. I'd like to plant 50-100 of them here in western WA and compare their performance to other species I already have: P. contorta, P. flexilis, P. muricata, P. nigra, P. ponderosa, P. strobus, P. taeda, P. thunbergii, and some yet to be identified trees I found a couple of years ago next to a "free trees" sign in someone's front yard. Forest Farm had KMX pines for sale, but apparently they're sold out; I haven't been able to find them anywhere else. Any leads or info on these trees would be appreciated, such as actual growth rate (How fast is "fast"?) or any drawbacks I should be aware of.
