    Amazing! Nice color!

    I thought I had a 'hobbit'....now I'm not so sure.

    Sooo Pretty, nice show Stan!

The color is great & I'm especially intrigued w/ the red rings on the circular (hobbit) tips of the leaves, very nice!

Absolutely Beautiful! I love the colors, I have a couple that I just bought, maybe in a few years mine will bloom. Thanks for posting the pictures. Very Nice...

Stan (and Josh...) I think what you have there is actually the sport 'Skinny Fingers.' My understanding is that if it has more tips that are pointy rather than cupped, it's 'Skinny Fingers." If more are cupped, then it's 'Hobbit.' I have both, and neither has ever bloomed for me, and I'd never seen a pic of them in bloom, so I wasn't sure sports DID bloom. Now I know! Thanks for giving me hope!

Oops! I always get 'Hobbit' and 'Gollum' mixed up! It's 'Gollum' that has the tubular leaves with cupped lips, not 'Hobbit.' 'Hobbit' has leaves that look like a miniture Jade but they kind of fold under. Here's a pic of a small 'Hobbit' for comparison...

Just wanted to correct myself! Someday, I'll actually remember which is which...

I'm going to take photos of my jades so I can get 'em sorted out once and for all! Ha!
I've seen the cupped jades called both 'hobbit's pipe' and 'gollum'...which added to my confusion.

Sorry for the fuzzy/darkish picture (and for hijacking your thread, Stan!), but is this a 'hobbit'?

oop. It's Gollum . Aren't both forms Crassula ovata?..Dont believe for a second the cold rating on that site of 15f and zone 8b. Below 32f look out...

I think they are sports of Crassula ovata, Stan. Hobbit, Gollum, Skinny Fingers, and then, of course, plants with *mixed* characteristics. Gollum seems to trumpet toward its suction cup leaf-tip, whereas your beautiful plant seems to have the narrowed (skinny) fingers toward the tip.

Hopefully Denise will straighten me out ;)

Right, Josh. (Believe it or not, I had to go back and check again!!!) I just can't keep them straight. Does anyone have a trick for keeping them straight?? I can usually make an assosiation, but I've figured none out with these...

Stan, yes they're all sports of Crassula ovata. I can't resist any of them... My favorite thing about my 'Skinny Fingers' is the weirdly bizzare leaves I'll get now and then, what looks like two leaves that joined, so they're flatish and then divide at the end. Very cool! I'll have to see if I have one on my biggest 'SF' tomorrow a.m. and take a pic to show if I do.

I can never seem to shut up about Jades...

You are a good man, Randy. Thanks.

Wish I had something to offer but I just started this year seriously collecting. Will find something by spring.
