This was actually hand painted by a company in France. It was custom made for the room.

Thank you Crisp. Is this home in France? Stunning, nothing beats hand painted. Bravo on the execution of such a lovely room. Do you have other photos of this room? I'm debating if I should splurge for a custom wall for my dining room. My main hesitation is that we don't know how long we will live in this home and I would hate to have someone paint over it. Am I wrong in my perspective? Should I care what the next owners wil do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm in the process of hanging the dining room light but I'm stuck on painting the room. I will add photos as soon as it is showable.

@arteshouse-- you can also find a digital artist to create an over-all mural and have it printed by a sign company onto the same vinyl used for bus/auto wraps. Highly durable. The only caution is that the artist needs to be aware of scale, and it needs to be a high quality printer to avoid pixilation. Photos need to be medium format. Here, my cost is $11/sq ft, plus install. Sky's the limit...

I was the Assistant Showroom Manager of Zuber & Cie’s to-the-trade New York showroom when it was located in Design & Decoration Building years ago., so if you’re looking for knowledge in this regard, you’re in the right place! The correct term is not wallpaper, but ‘Papier Peint’, although they are not actually painted but hand-blocked. What gives these scenic murals such value, which increases over time placing them in the category of fine art, is not merely their beauty and uniqueness or the time and expertise it takes to create each panel by hand, but the age and history of the wooden blocks themselves. The wooden blocks, carved out of pear wood, are hundreds of years old snd irreplaceable. They are stored underground for protection from light and can only be handled only by the most experienced artisans to avoid potential damage of any kind. The method in which each color is layered creates a rich, three dimensional quality, or ‘relief’ pronounced rell yev) that cannot be achieved by any other means, such as digital imaging. Zuber murals come with a high price tag, and although appreciated by many, are only affordable by a few, and the cost of obtainment is just the beginning, as the art of proper in installation can be just as costly as the murals themselves. There were and probably still are only a few craftsman capable of knowing the intricacy required to properly trim, glue (cellulose based), and hang the panels, as the ‘casein’ paint used in creating them is not coated and is sensitive to touch. In addition, it was always recommended that the panels be applied to canvas prior to installation, making them more easily removable by use of steam for future use, relocation, or sale. Having sold these over 20 years ago, I can say first hand that their retail value has since doubled, making it a more a worthwhile investment, which cannot be said for most design-related purchases that generally, much like that of a new vehicle, lose value the moment they leave the showroom.

Doesn't de Gournay do the art for Ananbo? I saw on Ananbos website they do not ship to the US. So disappointed. I'm on a search for their wallpaper in the US. Any suggestions?
