Hey Dax,

How fast does 'Trautmann' grow? Looks to be quite restrained, no long leaders.

Turns out it is not A.n. Trautmann. It's one of my favorite firs I've ever come across though. Resin thought it could very likely be Abies fraseri x koreana. It's picked up steam since. One year, about three years ago it grew 14-18" and then it slowed it's pace again to I suppose about 9" annually.

I'll try to remember to get a photo of this year's growth.

Dax

Ah, Thanks Dax. Bit too vigourous for me. Look forward to some recent pics as it's got a fantastic look.

I'll get a shot tomorrow and later when its leader has grown.

Dax

That is cool foliage, Dax. Almost like Abies numidica.

tj

Great looking trees, it will be fun watching them grow over the years!

Oh man that's nice and I bet those upright cones are cool.

Wow oh wow! That really is a supreme specimen tree. Anyone who has the space and climate should grab one.

More from Santa's goodie bag.

Morning shots vs. night shots, plus 'Jubliee'.

Its cones are purple-blue. Really awesome.

Cupressus nootkatensis 'Jubliee'

You've got some magic in your touch there Dax-growing such nice firs in the midwest. Nootka too-growing in the wide-open like that. Bravo!
