I like the fact that it says it can handle temps as low as 25 degrees, I'm sure that's after its established and more mature.

I saw on the ECHO website that Wurtz fruits in Nov/Dec. Other places referenced it as a "winter fruit".

I just (impulsively) bought a small Wurtz myself today.

I have searched the web, but can't find one reference of anyone in Florida growing one and having it fruit.

I have a Wurtz, but I just planted it last Fall. It took to things very nicely and now is full of what look like clusters of leaves and buds. I would guess that this puts it on track to have fruit for December. I agree that there aren't a lot of personal experiences shared with this variety, so I promise to keep us all posted!

It's been a few years now with your Wurtz. Can you tell us the optimum months for harvesting your avocados? I'm in California. I bought mine in early April and it immediately flowered. A few weeks later, about 25 tiny rice-sized avocados appeared! Unfortunately, I decided to replant the tree into a bigger and better pot. I think that shocked it because all of the avocados fell off except for one. That one avocado looks great now, but it is only about 5 months old. It seems like it should be ready to harvest in the next month or so, but that seems like it is too quick (only 6 month sold). I'm thinking of waiting until the spring to harvest it. I'm curious to know how long it takes for your Wurtz avocados to go from flower to harvest.

I have a one year old Wurtz avocado here in Port Saint Lucie. Its grown well now about 9 feet+. It flowered everywhere earlier this year. I think it was February - March time. There were dozens of match head size avocados in the beginning. Now in mid - July there are only 4 full sized avocados left on the tree.

Hi William. I'm just North of you and have a Wurtz as well. I have had it for two years, and it was supposedly two years old when shipped, tho I doubt it. Mine is just about 5 feet tall now, and this year, finally looking stronger and healthier. I contacted a specialist in Avocados from Australia's Dept of Agriculture... I know.. strange, but hey... No USA one was available. He was very kind and explained that even if they say you don't need a 'B" avocado tree to pollinate, he highly recommends it, in order to get a better yield. I tried convincing my neighbors to plant a "B" one that we would buy, as we have little space, but no luck. So, I'm currently looking for a good "B" one and will plant it four feet away from my wurtz. I'll try and remember to keep in touch and let you know how that works! Best of luck.
