Don't worry about this plant. It is not invasive. I bought about 18 of them a couple of years ago with no regrets. It likes filtered afternoon sun, not deep shade. It is cold hardy so very little trimming. Enjoy your new plants!

Thanks for the information. See -- that just proves you cannot trust the data on the 'info cards' attached to the plants. It said 'deep shade'.

How big do they actually grow? It "says" 4 ft. tall, but I am doubtful.

You can put flax lily in deep shade. I have some there, but they do not thrive. They really like it in my pool cage. Without measuring I'd say they are about 3' tall, (but they could be 4') and continuously with flowers. My experience is that they stay in a clump and you can divide it for more plants as it grows if you like. And they are drought tolerant.

I agree with what they said, VFL wants more sun then that. I have seen them grown in full sun. I'd say they get about 3 feet tall and when they flower that might reach 4 foot. The clump will muliply, but they aren't invasive. They don't send runners everywhere. You'll will love it.

I have friends coming in town in two weeks from the cold, rainy and dreary Seattle area. I'm trying to tropical-ize my yard (without breaking the bank...) a bit before they arrive. So, I have the VFL planted next to some new Cat Palms and ginger.

I've grown mine in afternoon shade and in full-on sunshine, and they do well with either of those. Deep shade didn't work well at all.

They are hardy plants, make a nice accent, and are one of the plants that came through the freeze unscathed. I highly recommend them.
