Which jasmine do you have? (This is a common name attached to all kinds of confusion. Knowing, for certain, what you have helps ID the pest.) Also, can you describe the insect?

I expect you are referring to either Confederate or Asiatic jasmine (which are not real jasmine!!!) since they both excude a milky sap when damaged or punctured by the feeding mouthparts of insects. Whitefly is a possibility as your pest....but need a better description.

YardGal, do you think they could be Mealybugs? I just noticed a couple of these yesterday in my yard.

I figured it out. They are leaf hoppers or something like that and apparantly they aren't harmful to mature plants. They look like tiny white moths. I wiped the white stuff of off the plants anyway b/c it looks bad. Apparantly the white stuff is the protective covering for the baby leaf hoppers. My jasmine is confederate and real or not, it is beautiful and smells delicious. That is all I care about.

This morning I went to cut some foliage off of tulips that had finished a month ago and noticed some aphids,started spraying, and then noticed these small white/green worms and a round,small tan coloured bug also. Help!!!! Does anyone know what the worms and tan bugs could be? I also have a star jasmine that is putting out reddish leaves, so I gave it a massive watering, and although it is ready to bloom, the few that have opened are brown in the center. Yuck!!!!!!!!!!The jasmine is facing south-east, gets ALOT of sun until about 12:30-1:00 and is in a wood barrel that has a rubber liner. Help! any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.

They are wooly aphids is my guess.
