That's awesome Shot! Personally, I think you should copywrite it and sell it for use on posters, greeting cards, mugs, etc.

Thanks folks! When I saw that sunflower with the natural smile I knew it had to have eyes and a nose. Blackberries were in and the plums were making, so just took 3 toothpicks...
GGG, when I was a kid my older brother called me Big Shot and in later years the Big got dropped. My mom use to say she would stand at the back door and call me for supper. She could yell Roy and no response, but she could yell Shot one time and I would answer...

I've seen your other pictures of your magnificent garden. If you're one of those folks who sells veggies off his driveway, you could also make cards with that sunflower picture. I'm sure they'd sell as well as your veg.

Pam, thank you very much! You made this ole country boys day. Pam, I couldn't sell heaters to Eskimos... It is enough enjoyment for me to have family and friends enjoy them. I was kinda thinking of selling some corn at a local farmers market, but the drought took care of that. Just felt blessed that the peas made good.

I just read your home page and am so sorry about your son, Evan. If you lived a little closer I would build something to go in his garden as I am a woodworker also.

My wife and I are also bird lovers too, and she has severals hummingbird feeders up. We have one near our bedroom window and you can stand inside and look at them close up through the glass, I mean like a foot away. Really awesome. I have built and put up about 10-12 bluebird houses and yesterday she went around to take inventory and discovered most had eggs or little ones in them. Also, a house wren (I think) is on her second little batch of little ones in a hanging basket on the front porch. Really quite smart of her, because she is safe from any predators. Oddest one is a Carolina Wren (I think) in the garage in a little cardboard box. This also is her second round in the same place. She has gotten use to the garage door closing and opening and works with it.

Sheesh, here I go again with the novel. Don't tell ESH that I am back to writing novels...

Thank you for your condolences about Evan. He is very much missed. I've decided to do an overhaul of his garden, seeing as how I planted mostly shady plants into a mostly sunny garden. It'll give me an oppotunity to plant some fun things like sunflowers there. I think he would have loved them. (I'll probably start a post about what to plant one of these days.) Oh, and I need to update my profile. We have a new little squirt as of March 1 this year. Her name is Miranda Evangeline.

I'm not really talented, just get to indulge in things since I retired that I never was able to do before, like gardening and woodworking.

A post about Evan's Garden would be great as we have some really talented people in the forum and would maybe give you some new ideas. I like sunflowers too.

Yep, you're famous now! We recently had a wren's nest on the shelf in the garage too (I like to leave my door open during the day). I had to move it outside last week as we were headed out of town and I couldn't leave the door open while we were gone. The move was very successful - the babies never woke up and the mom found the nest within about 30 minutes (she was mighty puzzled by that closed door). We have a deep overhang on the garage so I put a wooden ladder in the permanently shady area and nailed a shallow box to the steps. The nest fit there perfectly. They were fledged by the time we came home.

It's so nice to see nature up close. Certainly it is one of the reasons why I like to garden.

Glad to hear the wrens made it. We moved this one onto the front porch this morning and placed the box on the plant cart that I recently made. No little ones - just 3 eggs so no biggie. We are going away for 3 days soon and same as you, we can't leave the garage door open.
