It's so hot........

that I am deadheading with a weedeater at 6:00 in the morning

It's so hot that I am standing over a 5 gallon bucket in the shower so I can use the water for my container plants.

It's so hot that I may get arrested for gardening in the semi-nude.

It's so hot that my fish pond just came up to a simmer.

It's so hot that I have been chasing kudzu across the yard with a lopper.

It's so hot that I have been hoping for a category 1 hurricane--just enough to bring in some rain.

It's so hot that my corn is popping, my okra is fried and I have fried green tomatoes on the vine!

It's so hot that the cucumber blooms are all male and I don't have any cukes.

It's so hot that the bees refuse to pollinate without electric fans in the garden.

I have gone inside for the duration. August in Georgia is not for man, beasts, mad dogs and Englishmen.

Hot enough for you?

    Those are some good ones!

It's so hot (and dry) here that big cracks have opened up in the dirt in some places.

It's so hot that the weeds are wilting (well, some of them anyway).

It's so hot that when I take the dog out to pee, I let him pee at the base of a tree just so the tree can get SOME moisture.

It's so hot that I hate to go outside to check for the mail unnecessarily, so I use my binoculars to see if the flag is down so that I know it's really arrived.

Hot enough for me? I'd say it's way too hot for me!

Someone on a weather forum I visit has a good one:

Its so hot my thermometer is banging on the door to come inside!

    I thought of this one:

Its so hot you have to breathe through your nose to keep from burning your tongue!

It was only 95 here today, 97 on the pavement at work, it felt nice, cool :)

I wish it would rain - not so much for me, cuz I've seen it -- but for my grandchildren.

It's so hot that I have blisters on the back of my thighs from getting into my car that has leather seats. It's so hot that the birds must use pot holders to pull worms out of the ground.
In my whole life I've never seen anything like this... and hope I never do again!!

So much for that forecast for low 90's this week.
Going on 4 weeks here of no rain. I don't know how anything is still alive

This has been an awful month. I'm not quite as bad as you rainwise Quirky, I've had 0.12" for the month. I have had 6 highs of 100° or warmer, 19 straight days of 90° or warmer and 16 of the last 17 days with 95° or warmer. This one day a week watering ain't cuttin' it either! Its not looking good for rain this week and possibly the rest of the month. Maybe we need to move to Texas!

Some of my plants are really starting to suffer. I can't water them enough to keep them from frying. I hope this ends soon.

    elm tree wants water
    drought and heat deny it
    live please elm tree live

    0.12"!!??
Are you sure that's just not condensation forming on the inside of the rain guage?

    Or sweat :-)

Quirky, I have one of those manual guages that can measure down to 0.01"(1/100th of an inch). That one rainy day(8/16) was marvelous, with all the trappings of a summertime storm with lightning and thunder but only a brief heavy shower. There has not been another drop since. My high so far today is 102° which now makes my 8th high of 100 or warmer.

Good hard rain right now. And I spent the morning watering. Oh well.

I've had a great turnaround here since the 22nd. I've had rain three days in a row and picked up 0.59" in that stretch. Last night was the best rain of the month, and I had given up on it after peeking at radar around 7pm. It began raining hard after 10pm. Yesterday's high of 95° was also my lowest high since August 12, so it was a good all around day!

Okay...so what are we in NW Ga (Cartersville) doing wrong? We got a good rain a little over a week ago and all we've had since then was thunder and lightning almost every afternoon...no wet stuff!

Mowed the yard yesterday and thought I'd started the 2007 Dust Bowl.

It is so hot here, I am planning a trip to Africa - it is nice and cool there, only 100 degrees.
