Canner with plastic lid?

I just bought a Weck canner. It came with a plastic lid, which apparently is standard on the new models. I thought it would come with some kind of stainless steel or glass lid.

Is a plastic lid safe for canning? I'm worried about it melting or leaching chemicals at high temperatures.

It should be fine. I would imagine it has to be food grade plastic. Wow, you are the only person I know to finally get a Weck canner. They have been backordered for a very long time.
Let me know how you like using it. I used one in a class once.
